Introducing Chiropractic Care

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a hands-on form of natural medicine that focuses on the correction of misalignments of the spine and musculature, ligaments and tendons that attach to it, to enable the central nervous system housed inside it (brain and spinal cord) to function to the best of its ability. Chiropractic care seeks to promote optimal human function and general health by focusing on the nervous system and its response to internal and external stresses.

Marie-Christine tells us what Chiropractic care is.

Marie-Christine and Tom explain the techniques Chiropractors use.

When we are out of alignment from injuries, trauma, postural issues, stress, tension or just the effects of life, this can affect how our nervous system and bodies function. By gentle repositioning and restoring proper alignment of the spinal structures through specific chiropractic adjustments this restores nervous system integrity allowing you to function better and therefore feel better in every sense of the word (chemically – what’s going on, on the inside, physically – what you’re feeling on the outside and emotionally - how everything interconnects).

Tom busts some myths about Chiropractic care and offers a detailed explanation of the benefits of visiting a Chiropractor.

How does chiropractic care help people & change their health outcomes?

Throughout life we experience knocks, bumps and other day-to-day stresses, in the form of thoughts, traumas and toxins that can seriously affect our quality and experience of life. Chiropractic care is about removing the effects of these stresses our bodies. In this way, chiropractic care is a holistic approach to health, helping both the physical body and assisting emotional wellbeing.

Any stressful experience has an impact on our body. First, it changes our internal environment; creating strain on our mindset, structure and chemistry by putting us into a physiological 'flight and fight response'. It also changes our external environment; through the choices we make and lifestyle habits we create to help us adapt and feel as good as we can in our, coming through this life event.

For many people this can begin a series of events in body, mind and life which takes an individual off track from the life they are able and designed to experience and can decrease the overall quality of life and satisfaction.

Chiropractic adjustments restore accurate brain-body nerve communication which allows for a decreased 'fight and flight' stress response into a 'rest and digest' healing state for optimal restoration and rejuvenation. Our internal stimulus of motivation, action and creativity comes when we are in a restful and relaxed state feeling comfortable and confident in our body. This is how chiropractic care helps you be and return to your best.

Marie-Christine and Tom explain the benefits of Chiropractic adjustments.

Chiropractic care helps people be the best version of themselves enabling them to thrive rather than just survive. It’s a positive, holistic, comprehensive form of manual medicine that not only helps people with the physical body but also covers whole health including, diet, lifestyle, nutrition and emotional wellbeing. Chiropractic helps people change the way people understand health and how they can help those around them too.

How might chiropractic care help mums who are grieving after losing their baby?

Life isn’t easy, and parents who have suffered the loss of a child are more aware of this, having experience the acute pain of babyloss. Specifically, the emotional stress of grief alongside the physical stress of giving birth can take its toll.

More specifically, for women who are post-natal and who are grieving for their lost baby, Chiropractic care can help their physical wellbeing by realigning any pelvic distortions that are a common side effect of giving birth. By getting rebalanced this can help ease pain, tension, discomfort in the lower back and pelvic regions and also ease tensions in muscles in the shoulders and neck from stress and upset alongside many other benefits.

Marie-Christine explains how Chiropractic care can offer physical and emotional support for bereaved mums.

From an emotional perspective, Chiropractic care helps to normalise nervous system function, easing tension and helping to rebalance hormones and emotions. It can help to release emotions, at a time when mums (and others affected by baby loss) are likely to feel overwhelmed, helping the body to process these emotions, so they are not held onto and internalised.

Chiropractors understand how the body reacts to pregnancy, delivery and also post-natally and what women need to feel better and function better, particularly if they are also grieving following the loss of a child.

Tom gives a detailed explanation of the emotional and physical benefits of Chiropractic care for mums who are post-natal and grieving.

Marie Christine explains how Chiropractic care can also help those who are supporting mums and suffering the pain of loss themselves, by promoting their physical and emotional health.
